Race and Politics Part II
I have finished James A. Rawley's 1969 classic, thank God for Christmas break. What an amazing book! I found the political focus of the text to be a refreshing, (1969 HA HA), look at Bleeding Kansas and its influence on the Civil War. I have always know that turmoil in Kansas held the nations attention for many years. What I did not know is how deep and that influence ran. The back door wheeling and dealings, the rise and fall of political careers, and sectional split of the nation all come to life in this historical manuscript. Any thoughts from those who have or are supposed to have read this book are welcome.
