Top Kansan??

I have, (in a historically nerdy way), wondered who has had the greatest impact on Kansas history? Was it Eisenhower? Possibly John Brown? Or someone less well known, such as John Ritchie or Clarina Irene Howard Nichols? All have had an impact on Kansas history, but who has had the greatest impact? Nominations with justifications please.

Although, I am in agreement that Harriet Tubman was an important PERSON, (not thing), in American History, she was not from Kansas. Madonna in my opinion will be a mere statstic in books of future generations.

Oh, one last thing the 13th amendment freed the slaves not Harriet Tubman.

Interesting choice. Brinkley is one of the more colorful characters from Kansas history. The whole goat thing is quite fascinating, but Brinkley as a radio pioneer is usually overlooked.

Great choice!

Here is yet another important Kansan to think about. Dr. Samuel Crumbine, public health advocate. His famous campaigns of: Don't drink from the common cup." and "Swat the Fly." were very important in Kansas as well as US health history.

Of the two you listed I would put Burnett far above Clark for importance to Kansas history. Yes, Clark and Lewis influenced much of the settlement and therefore the development of present day Kansas indeirectly through their expedition, they were in Kansas for a very short time. I do believe Clark was an indian agent in Missouri. Why specifically Burnett?
